Divergent Series

The Divergent Series

So I'm not sure if it is just me but I just hate when you binge read an entire series because it is so good and finish it then don't know what to do with your life anymore because that is exactly how I felt when I read this series, and this series is what got me reading again after so many years. I got so into these books I even managed to read Insurgent (which is 400+ pages) in less than 24 hours which is sort of impossible for me so I say this is a great trilogy to read if you ask me.

This series amazingly written by Veronica Roth is a young adult science fiction adventure set in a post-apocalyptic Chicago. The society in his trilogy defines its citizens by their social and personality-related affiliation with one of five different factions: Abnegation, Dauntless, Erudite, Candor, and Amity. These factions remove the threat of anyone having independent will and of threatening the population's safety.

Beatrice (Tris) Prior must find out where she belongs in: Abnegation for the selfless. Dauntless for the brave, Erudite for the intellectual, Candor for the honest, or Amity for the peaceful. Tris goes from Abnegation-born to Dauntless Transfer, after finding out that she not only has one faction that defines her personality but three! So now Tris is determined to make it into Dauntless to survive. Here she finds out what she must do to live...

And , well, for those who have not read the books I promise not to spoil. Don't cheat and just watch the movies! I personally do not intend to watch the Insurgent movie -although I feel I will eventually give in- because (I know Ms. Roth herself vouched as to why but...) I ,as I said, got so into the second book that I just can't bring myself to accept the changes made in the movie.

Well, as an overall experience I can gladly say this series was a fantastic gateway back into the reading world, and I have my best friend Cynthia to thank for that.
